  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup buttermilk
  • For the glaze: ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla bean paste
  • 12 tbsp milk (for thinning, as needed)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, cream softened butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla.
  4. Gradually alternate adding the dry ingredients and buttermilk into the butter mixture until just combined.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool completely before glazing with a mixture of brown butter, powdered sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla bean paste.
