  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups chopped pecans (toasted)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (for the glaze)
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar (for the glaze)
  • 2 tbsp milk (for the glaze)
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar (for the glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and toast chopped pecans on a baking sheet for about 5–7 minutes until golden.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to wet mixture until just combined. Fold in cooled pecans.
  4. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are set. Cool slightly on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.
  6. For the glaze, melt butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring in milk until smooth. Whisk in powdered sugar to desired consistency and drizzle over cooled cookies.
