  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup full-fat eggnog
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cooled espresso or strong coffee
  • 24 ladyfingers (savoiardi)
  • Ground nutmeg and cinnamon (for dusting)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Whisk egg yolks and sugar over a double boiler until thick and pale.
  2. Allow cooling slightly and fold in mascarpone cheese until smooth.
  3. Whip heavy cream to soft peaks and gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  4. In a shallow bowl, combine eggnog and cooled espresso.
  5. Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture and arrange in a dish.
  6. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  7. Repeat with another layer of dipped ladyfingers followed by the remaining cream mixture.
  8. Cover and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, preferably overnight.
  9. Before serving, dust with cocoa powder and a pinch of nutmeg.
