Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 egg yolk
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Blue gel food coloring
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate sandwich cookies
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 23 tablespoons milk
  • ½ cup crushed chocolate cookies
  • Extra mini chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine warm milk and yeast; let sit until foamy (about 5 minutes). Stir in sugar, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla. Gradually add flour and salt until a soft dough forms.
  2. Incorporate blue food coloring. Knead until slightly sticky, then cover and let rise for 1 to 1½ hours until doubled in size.
  3. For the filling, mix softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, crushed cookies, and mini chocolate chips. Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the filling evenly.
  4. Roll tightly into a log and slice into 12 pieces. Place in a greased baking dish; cover and let rise for another 30 to 45 minutes.
  5. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.
  6. While baking, prepare cream cheese icing by mixing softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  7. Once baked, drizzle icing over warm rolls and sprinkle with extra cookie crumbs before serving.
